• Esteemed Faith leaders and representatives

• Donors and supporters of Humanity Matters

• Our dear migrant community, and

• Respected friends.

A very good Sunday morning to everyone!

1.  Yesterday marked one month since the devastating avalanche-floods in Nepal.

2. Many lives have been lost, and families and communities continue to deal with the aftermath. Our thoughts remain with all those affected.

3. In Singapore, I am heartened that people from different walks of life have stepped forward to help in various key areas through SPF, Mercy Relief, Humanity Matters, RLAF and Singapore Red Cross.

4. This is humanity in action. When others are in need, even beyond our shores, we step forward and do what we can to help.

5. We see that spirit here today. Singaporeans, our migrant friends, and people of different faiths and nationalities – all coming together for a common purpose.

6. Compassion knows no nationality, race or religion. What matters is that when someone needs help, we are willing to act. When we hold the lamp for others, our own path will be lit.

7. I would also like to thank the volunteers from the mosques, faith and community groups and companies who are here this morning.

8.  My appreciation as well to CHARIS Singapore, and Mr Tolentino Mendonca, who have each graciously contributed $50,000 towards Humanity Matters’ projects.

9. To everyone heading out for today’s Street Collection: thank you for giving your time and energy to put humanity into action.

10. Stay safe, have a successful collection, and perhaps set a new record today!

11. Thank you and all the best!
